It’s Your Fault Too
The mother in me came out this morning when I hopped on Facebook. I clicked the “most recent” button, mine always seems to have 300+, and was horrified to see a picture of a naked girl put up by this boy I went to high school with. I clicked the photo and reported the picture, I didn’t realize you could only click it once *sad face*. But I was horrified for this girl. True, she shouldn’t have sent the picture but that was wrong as hell.
I have a love/hate relationship with the generation before my generation. Due to the fact that we weren’t just born this way. Someone had to teach/preach us the wrong things. For example, I would never let my son get away with the bullshit my brother did. My son would be at military school some damn where. But, my parents just took the L for every mistake, fight, weekend jail run, bad report card, hidden child, alcohol caused mishap, etc.
I also love how my generation gets the short end of the stick every time a record comes out. My parents like to say “That is crap, yall don’t know what music is.” but then say “They stole that from us…they need to thank us for that beat.” Which one is it? Are you mad about the song or do you want to be compensated? Everyone keeps saying, it’s only going to get worse. With an attitude like that, yes it will. Don’t blame us for your shortcomings in the home, because your too lazy or don’t want to be bothered with your own kids. That’s not how it works.
Yes, a portion of the blame can be put on the individuals. But, you saw a change in your child. And, since the parents are psychic, shouldn’t the parents be able to stop it? I always hear “You not slick, I did it before.” Ok, so you knew how his behavior was going to be? But their parents weren’t crazy, they knew exactly how to stop all that craziness. So, many parents are trying to be their child’s best friend when they need to concentrate on being a damn parent.

This is my third time trying to write this by the way.
Okay, so me and Gabbi have this inside joke.

Okay, so me and Gabbi have this joke where were describing if were hoes we would have no-strings attached sex with one of our friends.
I don’t want to ever think of myself as a hoe, I have too much self-respect for that. But I’m curious as to why these girls are flinging themselves at these guys…is the sex really that good? Are they trying out new tricks? What the hell is going on that is making these girls not give a damn about who they have meaningless sex with?
And this is the part where the joke starts to make sense. If I was a hoe, I sure would find the hell out. And I know it’s hard to be alone while you watch your friends go on dates and things of that nature, but you don’t want that for yourself? You just want him for the night and then have that awkward feeling next time you guys see each other? It’s not worth it in my opinion. I’ve seen how awkward a situation can get:
I’m talking to my friend.
His fuck buddy walks up.
She looks at me.
Looks back at him.
Walks away looking pissed.
Umm…awk-ward.
Yeah, I really don’t understand why just because he’s cute your willing to sacrifice your self-respect. Someone please explain this! It’s not like these are 30 year old divorced single mothers. These are barely 21 year old Howard University students. We have GOTS to do better.

The top 3 Double Standards
In this world of double standards I know life can be trying. But as hard as this may seem..its just the way the world works right now. I’m not one to sit down and get walked over, BUT going toe to toe with the double standards just doesn’t seem wise.
Yes there’s a list
1. Casual hooking up/sex: I have seen many a reputations ruined because of this. You figure who cares what people think? Not me (as you down a drink and head toward the next alpha male you see). You hook up with him, who seemed like a genuinely nice guy at the club. Now everyone seems to know about your little hook up and people talk. Still you think I don’t care, they need to mind their own business. Funny thing is people don’t mind their business and you know this. But you don’t know who they know. Not caring won’t get you far in life, the networks you lost because of a hookup don’t seem so worth it now.
But on the flipside a male can hook up anytime he wants and the only thing that will be jepordized will be “Damn I wanted to hook up with her friend”. Its messed up, I know, but what are we really going to do besides laugh when they get an STD.
2. I just get dudes to to get dudes. The problem with this that you think your pimping when your really not. You want to have his name in your phonebook so when you get bored you can text him. The thing is that he probably can’t even remember your face. 9 times out of ten he just wanted to dry hump you at a party and hopefully take you back to his place.
Guys get number after number and its nothing, he doesn’t think about texting you until he wants you in his bed. He doesn’t want a genuine friendship after you say no to sex.

3. Bad mouthing a guy. You can say all the bad things in life about a man and chances are that 10% of them will stick. Its a waste of time. All a guy has to do is say he f***’d you once and it has a 60% chance of sticking. Its a waste of time because everyone will just assume that your bitter because he played you.
